The Michael Drew Fund for Oncology Nurse Education

Dad would have turned 80 on 31 May 2021 so to mark the occasion we are doing 80 for Mick for the Mater! We are running or walking 80 miles/80km/80,000 steps, or some variation thereof, over the month of May in memory of Dad and to raise funds for the Michael Drew fund for Oncology Nurse Education.

You can support the Michael Drew Fund by donating here and leave a message or memory in the Visitor Book tab. Let's do 80 for Mick for the Mater in May!

Dad suffered from bad health for many years, but he did whatever it took to feel better. He was so grateful to the Mater Hospital for all the fantastic care he received there.

Mick was my brother in law and we all loved him very much. Always welcoming and smiling, we miss his presence in the last few years.

I valued Mick's friendship very much. I had the privilage of his company on a daily basis for a few years. I experienced his qualities     of basic human decency. I knew him as a loving Family man a loyal dependable helpful human being with a great sense oh humour which we shared.  All of this while battling his illness on a daily basis. Rest in peace my dear friend and thanks for your friendship, company and support.

I miss our phone chats and recalling old memories with Michael. As the oldest siblings in the family we could recollect events from our very early years. He was a great big brother. He's loved and missed a lot.

Mick was my brother in law not in every way he was the nicest older brother. Taught us to swim and lots of rowing songs. We loved him dearly.

My memory is of My best friend, Mick's son, Joe, telling me how this man was his hero. Joe never stopped talking about Mick, praising his wisdom, wit and love for his family. I'm glad to say I met Mick several times and the words integrity, strength and wisdom come to mind. I also want to mention his wife Nora, who loved and loves him dearly and was the best possible person to have with Mick on his journey. His daughters Julie, Marianne and Ger idolised their Dad too and were/are so proud of him. I know Mick is still with Joe in spirit, and I hope, a little bit of Mick is with us all. ''Twas his spirit "'fwhat" made it possible! We love ya Mick.
